We have the ability to capture a moment, inspire creativity and cultivate an experience. All of these are gifts that we can give to others. A photograph is like a capsule of time that can unlock a memory and evoke nostalgia. Giving someone the gift of photography can be a fulfilling experience. You capture that moment, that memory, and now you have handed it back to someone… a key to their past.
Much is the same for music. We all have songs that remind us of a place or time in our lives. When it comes on we are transported back there. We can give someone that song, a way to remember this moment or give it back to them and allow them to return to that reality.
This week I was given a gift that inspired me. Lent a guitar for a while, I found myself inspired by not only the sound but the image. Such a cool guitar. I had to shoot some photos. The gift of inspiration can encourage new life paths and new creative ventures.
Finally is the gift of experience. This is the memory — whether it is how you present your gift or the next big adventure — experiences are remembered. We are our memories and this gift adds to who we are. We can add new stories to our collection. These gifts are filled with “remember whens” and “can you remembers” I have a few of these.
Using our gifts to make, inspire and capture memories can put us in touch with our own gifts.
